中国人过生日,常吃长长的面条,表示长寿。巴西人过生日的食品是糖果。冰岛人过生日常吃带蜜饯的薄饼。英国人过生日全天庆祝。在学校里,过生日的孩子常被抓住胳膊和脚脖举起来,每年一次,预示长高。荷兰的孩子们过生日,不仅得到礼物,也把礼物分给别人。 在墨西哥,生日那天要尽可能早地致以祝贺,以图吉利。过生日的人常常在半夜被祝寿的朋友叫醒。印度人过生日有宗教色彩。必须在黎明前祈祷和祝福。泰国人在生日前的夜晚要点燃两支长蜡烛,一支同过生日者一样高,以求长寿。如果过早熄灭,则是不祥之兆。大多数西方国家过生日都是在蛋糕上插蜡烛,然后与祝寿者同食蛋糕。

一、序数词

序数词表示顺序,常与定冠词连用。其构成大多数是在基数词后加th。其构成规则如下:

3.日期前的介词in和on.

(1)in表示在某年或某月,如:in 1900,in 2015,in July, in May, in June 1987等。 (2)on表示在某一天,如:on October ninth, on a cold morning, on Sundays, on Children’s Day等。 三、名词所有格

名词所有格表示有生命的名词与其后面名词的所有关系,表示所属关系。一般在名词词尾加“‘s”来构成所有格形式。名词所有格的构成:

1.一般在名词词尾加’s,如:Tom’s books汤姆的书。

2.如果名词词尾是s则只加“‘”,如:the boys’ rooms男孩们的房间。
