摘要：A color change of a product or foreign matter contamination has beenheretofore inspected with the naked eye of the operator or a hue is discriminated bypicture processing a video signal of the object (700) taken up by a pick-up apparatus (22)and by density, that is, a difference in lightness of the video. A hue discrimination cannotbe made by a pick-up apparatus where no difference is involved in lightness even if thehue of the object is different. Discrimination of color codes (800) on the article requiresmuch time and cannot be made at a high rate by a conventional hue detecting meanssince the latter necessitates movement of the object at every time and scanning theportion the hue. The color discriminating apparatus according to the invention is

arranged so that assigned color difference, (R-Y, B-Y) brightness signals (Y) are separatedfrom a video signal, and that these separated signals are determined according to theupper and lower limit values preset, that there is a decision means to output a binarysignal, and that signals of lightness, chroma and hue are separated from the video signal,and that these separated signals are determined according to the limit values so that thehue is automatically discriminated to confirm it by the screen of a monitor, therebyeliminating individual differences and errors in recognition due to the eyesight and beingcapable of recognizing the hue under a uniform condition and further discriminating the

area of the object to be inspected.
