Of course, I was very pleased for I was the winner, and so were my school①. However, I felt very sorry for my partner, because as a loser, he would face great pressure②.
But as a matter of fact, I should thank my partner. On one hand, if he hadn’t lost the match, I would have won the match③. It was his failure that contributed to my success. ④ On the other hand, I have lerant much from my partner too, because I took lessons from his failure so that I successfully avoided the mistakes⑤. Otherwise I might make it too.
Therefore, when participating in a match, we should not attach too much importance to the result, but on the experience and lessons⑥.
Last week, I participated in a table tennis match held by our city for the students from high schools. The match took place in the Sports Stadium near our school. Unfortunately, the result is that I lost it in the last game, while the winner was Mary from No. 2 High School. ①
Though I was the loser, I was not unhappy at all. ② On the contrary, I should thank Mary, who let me recognize myself correctly. ③ On one hand, I can see clearly that I’m poorer in playing skills, so I should learn from others furtherly④. On the other hand, I have made friends with Mary. Through this match, we have developed great friendship between us, which is more important than the result itself⑤. Therefore, I think we shouldn’t attach too much importance to the results when we took part in a match but on our personal development. ⑥
